Most reflux is 'happy spit-up' — messy but harmless — and improves as babies grow and spend more time upright, usually resolving by around a year. Frequent discomfort, poor weight gain, back-arching or refusing feeds can suggest GERD and is worth discussing with your doctor.
Glossary
Infant reflux (spit-up)
Infant reflux is the bringing-up of milk during or after feeds, very common because a baby's muscular valve at the top of the stomach is still immature.
